A joint meeting of the South Indian film Chambers, Tamil Film Producers Council and South Indian Artistes Association has decided to suspend members from Karnataka. The suspension will last till the problem was solved, a release said. No cooperation would be extended to film crews from Karnataka when they come here for film shooting, editing and re-recording, it added. President of South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, KRG while talking about this has said that if the situation will not recover its normalcy, all those members will be out from the chamber permanently.

He clarified that while addressing the fast held by Tamil Film industry in Chennai on Friday, he only decried those who have been creating trouble, asking such people to be “kicked” (Odaikanum) and was not referring to all.
“I have not done any wrong. But I am not averse to tendering apology, if I had committed any wrong”, he said, adding “if stalwarts like Parvathamma Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan, Girish Karnad demanded my apology, I will certainly tender”.

he final book in the wildly successful series will be made into two films, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.
Producers are expected to announce Thursday that J.K. Rowling's last "Potter" installment, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," will be split into two parts on the big screen. The first film is slated for release in November 2010, with part two following in May 2011. "It was born out of purely creative reasons," producer David Heyman told the Times. "Unlike every other book, you cannot remove elements of this book."
The two final "Potter" films will be shot concurrently, much like the blockbuster trilogy based on J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy novel "The Lord of the Rings."
Another famous Tolkien tome, "The Hobbit," is also being split into two live-action movies set for back-to-back shooting to begin next year.
Filming on the sixth "Potter" flick, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," began in September.
"It's been brilliant," said star Daniel Radcliffe. "It's also, I think, the funniest of the films so far."
Gary Busey has apologized for embracing Jennifer Garner on the red carpet at the Oscars last month.
During a live E! pre-show broadcast, Busey repeatedly interrupted while Ryan Seacrest was interviewing Garner and Laura Linney. At one point, Busey embraced Garner, who looked annoyed.
"I meant no disrespect to Ms. Jennifer Garner when I met her at the Oscars and apologize if I made her uncomfortable," the 63-year-old actor said in a statement e-mailed Monday by a publicist for his attorney, Vicki Roberts. By the time he realized Garner and Linney were being interviewed, Busey said he tried to step back but "suddenly Ryan introduced her to me."
Calls to Garner's publicist, Leslie Sloane-Zelnik, weren't immediately returned.
"I simply greeted both actresses with joy and open arms, which is the way I would greet anyone I'm happy to meet," Busey said. "Everyone has experienced a handshake or hug which has turned awkward, and this was no different."
Busey, an Oscar nominee for his role in 1978's "The Buddy Holly Story," has parodied his eccentric reputation on the HBO comedy "Entourage."

After teasing us with mountains of glorious SDK features and apps, Apple dropped the bomb that we won't be getting any of those features until the iPhone / iPod touch 2.0 software update, which arrives as a free update in June and includes App Store. Selected developers will get a chance at a beta version of 2.0 to test their new applications out as of today, and we have a funny feeling somebody's going to be putting in some hours to try and crack this thing for the rest of us. In addition to the SDK-related features, the 2.0 update brings parental controls, such as allowing parents to turn of Safari or the App Store to keep those kiddies safe.
Just in case you didn't catch the blip earlier between Steve's announcement of the iPhone SDK and the App Store, here's some fantastic news for the thumb-happy sect: Spore is coming to the iPhone. In fact, the EA Mobile title will go down as "the first 3rd party game on the iPhone." Sadly, it won't actually be available until September, but at least you've got a month to circle on your calender, right? Additionally, EA affirmed that there were "other games in early stages of development," and that it was "actively using the new iPhone SDK to develop games for the iPhone OS." After a stay that's been anything but uneventful, OLPC founder Nicholas Negroponte has announced that he'll be stepping down as CEO of the organization, and that he's now searching for a successor, although he'll be staying on as Chairman.
That word comes from an interview Negroponte gave to BusinessWeek, where he admitted that "management, administration, and details are my weaknesses," and even went so far as to say that the organization needs to be managed "more like Microsoft." He also revealed that the search for a new CEO had actually begun last year, but had ratcheted up in recent weeks, during which time the organization was also reorganized into four operating units, including technology, deployment, market development and fund-raising, and administration. No word on any contenders for the top spot just yet, but Nick Neg described the ideal candidate as someone with a "leadership profile similar to that of Kofi Annan," adding that he hopes to have the search concluded by April or May.
New Delhi, (IANS) Bollywood writer-director Muzaffar Ali, whose period film “Umrao Jaan” still stirs the souls of viewers, says nowadays no Indian director has the sensibility to make a historical epic.
“Poetry, painting, designing, writing all comes into a film, isn’t it? But it is not easy to make a film,” he said.
“Today nobody has the sensibility to make a historical epic. They lose out on the passion. To make a masterpiece, a filmmaker has to be charged with passion,” Ali told IANS in an interview.
Ali refrained from directly commenting on Ashutosh Gowariker’s period drama “Jodhaa Akbar”, which was released this month and has invited controversy over alleged distortion of facts.
But he said filmmakers should take extra care while dealing with history to avoid hurting sentiments.
“The broader objective of films is to unite human beings. It is a way of understanding humanity and its ethos. If you are not sensitive to it, it (film) is the wrong medium for you and you might end up hurting someone’s sentiments,” he said.
“Filmmakers must be extra cautious about the feelings of others because you are not writing history. Instead, the subject is about those who were victorious,” the filmmaker said.
The artist, who is also a painter and designer, ventured into Bollywood with “Gaman” and most of his movies cater to niche audiences.
“I am trying to reinvent a new cinema for the world. I believe that the world would recognise me because of my work and the kind of work that I do.”
